Lauderdale House

In the early 1960s a macabre discovery was made at Lauderdale House, a mansion dating from 1582 which is situated in Waterlow Park.

A wicker basket containing 4 sacrificed chickens, a candle holder, a goblet and plate, two mismatched shoes and a plaited rush suggests the remains of a witchcraft ceremony carried out in the house in the 1600s.
